Complimentary 30 minute consultations should be booked at least 24 hours prior to your Microblading or permanent make-up (PMU) appointment, ensuring a smooth and hiccup-free appointment for both the artist and client.

Microblading and PMU appointments are two hours long, not including the required consultation. You will be welcomed with water or calming herbal tea and a small optional snack.

We begin the appointment by first numbing your skin with a topical lidocaine cream while you fill out paperwork. This free time also gives you opportunity to relax your body and mind before the treatment begins.

When your paperwork is done and numbing time is up we begin to design your outline. Each design is customized to the client and no two are alike. We do not believe in or practice 'stencil brows'. Rest assured your designer brows will be yours, and yours alone. Measure 5x cut 500. We take symmetry seriously. Throughout your appointment from Design to final strokes, measuring will happen numerous times to ensure precisely the correct shape and size.

Microblading, a little intro:

Microblading is a softer and more subtle cosmetic brow tattoo than other conventional machined methods. This look is achieved by imitating the look of brow hairs with delicately placed tattoo strokes, expertly weaved in to blend visually with your natural hair growth pattern. This is done with a small handheld stylus that has a blade-like needle setup on the tip. Each stroke delivers a controlled and small amount of pigment from the tip of the needles to a shallow layer in the skin in between the superficial epidermis and deeper dermis. This small amount of pigment gently fades over time. Clients of Miss Shannons' Studio tend to book a Color-Boost once a year on average to keep up with this fading.

Microblading is known (slightly incorrectly) as a semi-permanent tattoo, as the hair strokes fade they require a touch up every 1 year or so. The frequency of when you’ll need a touch up depends on a number of factors. A tattoo can fade much quicker on clients who have more oil production, high sun or UV exposure, and those who use chemically exfoliating products ex: (Tretinoin (Retin-A) & Alpha Hydroxy) These products increase your cell turnover rate and will shorten the life of your cosmetic tattoo.

To ensure the highest quality of safety, all of our tools are one time use only. ALL blades, hand tools, wipes, and any other product used during the procedure are disposed of as biohazardous waste after each appointment, giving each client peace of mind.

How many treatments are needed?

Clients of Miss Shannons' Studio tend to book once a year to retain their beautiful shape and color. Touch ups are not necessary except in extreme cases. Touch ups are not included as they are not usually necessary, they are however made available in case of mishaps made during the healing process that could potentially fade the tattoo prematurely.

Does it hurt?

We do all that we can to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible. Before the Microblading begins, the skin is cleansed thoroughly, a topical numbing cream is applied to the area to minimize discomfort followed by a topical lidocaine gel with epinephrine as we move on from side to side. Some clients may feel a slight discomfort, and you will be aware of some sensation, but it’s relatively pain free. You will feel the first few strokes and become more comfortable as we proceed and apply more numbing.

(PLEASE NOTE that if you are a frequent smoker, ingested caffeine within 12 hours or have your appointment during your hormonal/menstrual cycle, the pain level could be intensified)

Healing Process

Immediately following your Microblading procedure, the tattooed strokes will appear darker and bolder. During the healing process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Not until your touch up session approaches will you notice the faded strokes reappear. This is normal, as they’ll go from DARK →  LIGHT → JUST RIGHT

During your touch up session Six to Eight weeks post treatment, your technician can adjust/correct pigment and/or shape. You will feel healed at Four weeks post treatment and wondering why it still looks so light, but have patience! Your skin is still healing the inner layers. Wait at least 6 weeks for your skin to heal fully and become semi translucent again, revealing the pretty and true color of your Microbladed Brows.
